Speaker Bio
Katharine Simon is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, School of Medicine, at UC Irvine and the Assistant Director of Research in Pediatric Sleep at the Children's Hospital of Orange County. She is a licensed clinical psychologist with specialties in pediatric health and behavioral sleep medicine. She obtained her B.A. at UC Berkeley and her doctorate in both Clinical Psychology and Cognition & Neural Systems at the University of Arizona. She completed her clinical internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC).

Join us for this talk that will cover the role of sleep and mental health in cognitive trajectories in pre-adolescent youth. Including but not limited to a review of of suitable remote data collection methods for youth.
Learning Objectives
After participating in this activity, attendees should be better able to:
- State how sleep patterns evolve across development and their role in cognition
- Outline remote data collection methods suitable for studying sleep, memory, and mental health in children and adolescents
- Explore how sleep duration and depressive symptoms longitudinal trajectories emerge in preadolescents
