This lecture provides healthcare professionals with clinical practice guidance on evidence-based topics for substance use to inform assessment, and person-centered treatment recommendations, special considerations, and medical management of substance use disorder, stimulant use disorder, and alcohol use disorder.

TARGET AUDIENCE

This activity is designed for physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and residents and fellows in Rhode Island specializing in primary care, family medicine, general medicine, pediatrics and emergency medicine. 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

After participating in this educational initiative, the learner should be better able to:

  • Explore the risks and benefits of monitoring for Substance Use Disorder with urine screens
  • Discuss Alcohol Use Disorder management in primary care and providing a framework for who may or may not qualify for outpatient alcohol detoxification
  • Understand the medical management of Stimulant Use Disorder

METHOD OF PARTICIPATION AND HOW TO RECEIVE CME CREDIT

There are no fees for participating in and receiving credit for this activity.

  • Review the activity objectives, faculty information, and CME information prior to participating in the activity.
  • Complete the pre-test
  • View the CME presentation
  • Complete the post-test
  • Complete the CME activity evaluation in order to receive a credit certificate.
    • Credit claiming is available at the end of each module.
