This session is designed for Rhode Island physicians (primary care and specialists), psychologists, social workers, residents, fellows, medical students, and all other allied health professionals. 

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be better able to:

  • Outline the effects of prenatal social disadvantage on offspring brain outcomes at birth.
  • Identify the components and mechanisms of the THRIVE factor for neurodevelopmental optimization in the perinatal period. 
  • Explain the concept of neuroplasticity and identify when environmental exposures impact brain development most powerfully. 
  • Describe principles of implementation science relevant to the perinatal period
