ForwardCOR 6.08.21: From Zoning Out to Zoning In: The ADHD Process of Care Algorithm at Your Practice
Most children with ADHD have their first encounter of care within their primary care physicians office.
It is important to be prepared with a diagnosis and referral strategy, however there are many barriers that have the potential to negatively impact patient outcomes. Some of these include but are not limited to: a lack of local resources for patients, or limited training of the topic.
This session will include guidance on how to effectively utilize the current 2019 Clinical Practice Guidelines for diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of ADHD. Participants will gain an understanding of how best to support patients and their families as they await referral to a specialist.
Target Audience
Physicians, Psychologists, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners and Nurses specializing in Primary Care and Pediatrics.
Learning Objectives
After participating in this session, the learner should be better able to:
- Effectively utilize current ADHD clinical practice guidelines and apply to pertinent patient care
- Integrate a strategy for providing optimal ADHD support services in an outpatient care or primary care setting
- Outline how to support patient newly diagnosed with ADHD during the referral to the specialist waiting period.
