LIC 102: Population medicine, Health systems science, and Biases in Medical Education

March 9, 2021

The LIC is a relatively new and unknown practice in the Brown community. Community preceptors who have been working with LIC students for a number of years have gained more knowledge of the LIC and the pairing of patients and students through their experience. This workshop will exhibit the successful pairing of students with patients longitudinally from seasoned LIC preceptors. In addition, this workshop will address the potential bias in medical student evaluations and how to avoid language that exhibits bias.

Target Audience

Physicians specializing in primary care, family medicine, neurology, OB/GYN, pediatric, psychiatry, and surgery.

Learning Objectives

  1. Gain knowledge to successfully pair patients with students
  2. Identify examples of bias in writing student evaluations and how to avoid this
