Overview
This workshop is aimed at teaching providers how to recognize and respond to patient-initiated discrimination and harassment directed at themselves or someone else. Participants will go through cases describing scenarios of patient-initiated discrimination and harassment first as small groups (in “think-pair-share”) format, then as a larger group. Participants will be taught different tools that can be used to effectively and respectfully respond to discriminatory comments from patients. The workshop will have a special emphasis on how to support colleagues and more junior learners when confronted with patient-initiated discrimination and harassment.
Target Audience
This session is open to all faculty, staff and trainees.
