3/3/26 - Unlocking the Ideal Interview: Learning How to Navigate Medical Education Leadership Positions
Tuesday, March 3, 2026
5:30-7:00pm
The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University
Room 275
Overview
Faculty members wear many hats - clinician, researcher, mentor, educator, administrator. While faculty are often familiar with navigating job searches for clinical, administrative, and research positions, applying and interviewing for leadership roles in education often presents unique opportunities that can feel more nebulous and sometimes challenging. This may be because educational leadership roles often have a broader range of components such as smaller or difficult to quantify time commitments, a diverse array of involved learners, broad content oversight, and unique required skillsets. Since many roles do not require formal educational training or particular degree requirements as a prerequisite to apply, which is often a mainstay of other application processes, it often leaves applicants struggling to determine the best way to highlight their relevant experiences. This interactive workshop led by medical school and residency educational leaders will provide concrete tips for improving interview preparation and execution for a variety of educational leadership roles. Topics include: demystifying the interview process, understanding the logistics of interviews, prepping for the interview, developing the “elevator pitch”, practicing the interview, and developing the best questions to end the interview.
