Program Description
This workshop will enable clinicians to be aware of the key challenges in working with trainees whose patients are using remote platforms Including rapport building across the lifespan, frame and boundary setting, key privacy concerns, and licensing challenges. Additionally, participants will be engaged in an interactive discussion of how best to supervise trainees with varying levels of experience using remote platforms.
Target Audience
This webinar is designed for Rhode Island psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, residents, fellows, and medical students.
Learning Objectives
After completing this activity the learner will be better able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of logistical (e.g., licensing laws) and practical (e.g., equipment needed) necessary to provide virtual supervision of mental health service delivery
- Perform remote supervision with minimal practical difficulty and consistent with regional regulations
- Integrate skills to teach trainees how to establish a 'therapeutic frame' for virtual sessions
- Enhance the quality of clinical care delivered remotely by trainees
- Analyze ethical considerations in providing mental health services remotely in order to effectively guide trainees in ethical decision-making
