An Introduction to Transgender Health
This virtual educational activity will provide both physicians and medical professionals an introduction to the transgender community, including how to provide culturally-sensitive care and use appropriate vocabulary to improve the patient-provider relationship and decrease healthcare disparities. Physicians and healthcare professionals will learn about the barriers members of the transgender community face when accessing healthcare, as well as strategies to recognize and decrease barriers to care.
This activity is supported by funding from the Rhode Island Executive Office of Health and Human Services, Healthcare Workforce Transformation Program.
Target Audience
Physicians, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Psychologists, Social Workers, Medical Students, Dental Professionals, Residents & Fellows, CCRI Allied and Rehab Health Students, Faculty, Alumni, and Clinical Instructors.
Learning Objectives
- Provide culturally sensitive care in practice by using language that is respectful and avoiding terms that can be harmful or traumatic to transgender patients.
- Provide more sensitive care to transgender patients due to an increased understanding of barriers transgender patients face in healthcare.

Fee includes continuing education credits & access to webinar & slides.
Cancellations/substitutions must be made in writing to CME@Brown.edu at least 2 business days prior to the event, no later than September 21, 2020. “No shows” are subject to the full conference fee. This event is subject to change or cancellation.
