COR 12.07.21: Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder: An Overview of Relevant Treatment Issues for Clinicians

This presentation will provide an overview of autism spectrum disorder in youth for pediatric clinicians in Rhode Island, including a review of diagnosis, common challenges and comorbid conditions, treatment recommendations, and systems of support. 

Target Audience

Physicians, Psychologists, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners and Nurses specializing in Primary Care and Pediatrics. 

Learning Objectives

After participating in this session, the learner should be better able to: 

  • Describe how best to identify and diagnose autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in youth.
  • Review how best to support positive and healthy development in youth with ASD, and address common challenges and comorbid conditions. 
  • Outline the landscape of services available in Rhode Island for youth with ASD and their families.
