COR October 8th: Eating Disorders: A Case-Based Overview

Many providers in primary care pediatric practice are not comfortable with the diagnosis and management of eating disorders, the 3rd most common chronic illness of adolescence. This presentation will approach eating disorder diagnosis and management in the pediatric primary care setting, and will focus on the medical management of this complex set of illnesses.

Target Audience

Physicians, Psychologists, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners and Nurses specializing in Primary Care and Pediatrics. 

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this session, attendees should be able to:

1. Identify early warning signs of eating disorders in the primary care pediatric setting
2. Present diagnostic criteria, epidemiology, and general therapeutic strategy for eating disorders
3. Outline medical and developmental consequences of eating disorders in a pediatric population
