Master Clinician Series – Psychotherapy Treatment Approaches: Traditional CBT vs. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
Both traditional Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) are evidence-based approaches for depression. This interactive case discussion will review the basic principles of CBT and ACT. The differences in treatment approach between CBT and ACT will be illustrated through presentation and case discussion of an adult with trauma history and depressive symptoms.

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Describe the key features of the ACE approach and how it differs from traditional CBT.
- Develop skills to select appropriate treatment approaches based on patient presentation.
- Develop strategies to implement ACT approaches that could be used across a range of settings of different levels of acuity.
