03/10/22: LIVE IN PERSON - Leadership and Performance Coaching for Health Care Professionals
Coaching is increasingly utilized by health care professionals at all levels and roles. Leadership and performance coaching can be used to increase self-awareness, establish more authentic relationships, develop others, and lead change effectively. Coaching is also a core leadership competency that can apply to numerous work and personal interactions. This session will define coaching and describe the structure and focus of a coaching relationship. The session will include a real-time coaching demo and the opportunity for participants to practice foundational coach-like leadership skills. This session is particularly appropriate for emerging leaders and for individuals looking to increase their professional management skills.
Target Audience
All faculty and residents are welcome to participate in this live activity.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Define coaching and identify appropriate coaching topics
- Appreciate why coaching is important for leadership performance and effectiveness
- Describe the difference between mentoring and coaching
- Outline why and how to “co-create the relationship” with others
- Demonstrate two foundational coaching skills: Active Listening & Powerful Questioning
- Apply coaching mindsets and skills to a range of professional interactions
