06/15/22: LIVE IN PERSON - Celebrated Practices and Missed Opportunities: Lessons learned about small group facilitation from a cohort of peer observers
This activity will be taking place live, in person at the Warren Alpert Medical School, Room #275
This academic year, a cohort of medical educators observed small groups across the pre-clerkship curriculum at AMS. This was, for many facilitators, the first time their teaching had been directly observed. A review of the written feedback provided to individual facilitators reveals the skill and dedication of those involved with undergraduate medical education. Fortified with hours of observation and qualitative data about AMS small groups, the observers will share what they have learned about the challenges inherent in small group facilitation, and the creative educational innovations that are playing out in our classrooms. Specifically, workshop presenters will address best practices for fostering a positive learning environment, encouraging learner participation, and managing complex group and contextual logistics, using specific examples from the 2021-2022 observation and feedback program.
Target Audience
All faculty and residents are welcome to participate in this live activity.
