1/11/2022: Engaging the Learner: Active Learning in Didactic Medical Education

January 11, 2022

This session helps educators understand the importance of incorporating active learning strategies into didactic teaching, for both in-person and virtual platforms. We will define “active learning,” and discuss the data behind its facilitation in US medical schools and postgraduate medical education. We will demonstrate several practical and easy-to-use techniques that facilitate active learning and that can be employed in didactic teaching sessions. Tips on how to effectively use strategies such as game-based learning, interactive polling, and case-based discussions in virtual and live platforms will be discussed. Participants will have the opportunity to revise and enhance a teaching session of their own to incorporate more opportunities for active learning.

This activity is a live webinar held via Zoom, 7:30-9:00 am (EST)
