This session will guide participants through a series of improv games designed to enhance various communication and teamwork skills. Learners will play the games and debrief their observations through discussion and stand-up led by Melissa Bowler, comedian and professional development facilitator. Through highly interactive improvisational exercises, we will explore history taking, implicit bias, hidden curriculum, building rapport, stress responses, teamwork methods, and work patterns we see that reflect clinical and academic practice.
Target Audience
This session is open to all faculty, staff and trainees.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
1. Assess and critique their current teamwork and communication skills
2. Develop enhanced new skills for excellent communication in a variety of clinical and academic formats
3. Create personalized goals to apply to their clinical and academic teamwork and communication skills
