THIS SESSION WILL BE RESCHEDULED LATER IN THE SPRING
This workshop outlines the connection between poor slide design and the accuracy of learner comprehension. It makes the additional case that poor slide design is particularly problematic when it comes to discussions about race in medicine, because learner misunderstanding can contribute to systemic racism and bias. Participants will review common slide designs and together engage in a revision process that will improve learner comprehension and create a more inclusive presentation. This workshop is particularly appropriate for faculty or residents interested in practical tips for improving their lecture materials!
Target Audience
All faculty and residents are welcome to participate in this live activity.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Identify problems with presentation software default slide design settings
- Recognize the link between those problems (above) and learner misunderstandings
- Craft more accurate and inclusive presentations
