The Office of Women in Medicine and Science and The Office of Continuing Medical Education present: We’re in this Boat Together: Navigating the Changing Waters of Science and Medicine - A professional development conference for faculty, trainees and house staff
The OWIMS conference is the capstone event of the Office of Women in Medicine and Science’s annual professional development series. The goal of this program is to bring together BioMed, Basic Science, and Public Health faculty, trainees, and students for an educational meeting with didactics, discussions, workshops, and networking. Promoting diversity, mentoring, collaboration, and addressing the goal of having a successful and satisfying work-life experience are also essential aspects of the conference.

- Discuss how changing societal trends are affecting the academic environment for scientists, physicians, and their trainees.
- Implement strategies for fostering an educational and work climate that supports faculty and student achievement regardless of gender.
- Employ practical techniques to advance their scholarly work, accelerate the impact of their professional efforts, and advocate for themselves and others.

Parking: A limited number of "parking passes" will be available for our conference participants to be used in the garage next door to 222 Richmond Street. Additional details will be e-mailed to all conference registrants. Parking is available, in Lot 30, located at the corner of Richmond and Elm Streets, for faculty actively engaged in direct instruction of students or have a significant administrative role such as course director. A hang tag is required. Metered street parking is also available. Finally, the Brown Daytime Shuttle is another option available for faculty and staff with a Brown ID. ID must be shown before boarding the van. Please do not park in the surface lots directly across the street from the medical school’s main entrance.
