This 3rd session of the series covers developing suicide care management plans and embedding them into Electronic Health Records with a review of evidence‐based treatment strategies for suicidality and the importance of a timely care transition between health care/program settings, and Relentless follow‐up to assure continuity of care.  

This webinar series is jointly provided by the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and Washington County Zero Suicide Program.

Target Audience

This series is designed for physicians, psychologists, social workers, and nurses.

Learning Objectives

After participating in this activity, the learner should be better able to: 

  1. Describe the Zero Suicide approach to engaging individuals identified to be at risk of suicide in a suicide care management plan.
  2. Demonstrate a basic understanding of the importance in a Zero Suicide approach of all clients with suicide risk, regardless of setting, receiving evidence-based treatment to address suicidal thoughts and behaviors directly, in addition to treatment for other mental health issues.
  3. Explain the importance of successful suicide care transitions and specifying the contacts and supports needed throughout the process to manage any care transition. 

METHOD OF PARTICIPATION AND HOW TO RECEIVE CME CREDIT

Dr. Virna Little is currently the Chief Operating Officer and co‐founder of Concert Health, a national organization providing behavioral health services to primary care providers, the Director of the Center for Innovation in Mental Health at the CUNY School of Public Health in New York and the co‐founder of Zero Overdose, a not for profit addressing the national crisis of unintentional overdoses. She has a Doctoral degree in Psychology, a Masters in Social Work and Business Administration and Healthcare, is a Certified Care Manager (CCM) and a recognized Substance Abuse Professional (SAP).  Dr. Little is a nationally and internationally known speaker for her work in integrating primary care and behavioral health, developing sustainable integrated delivery systems and suicide prevention. She is also a faculty member for the national and international Zero Suicide initiatives and has spoken on national suicide prevention strategies at the White House.
