This lecture provides medical professionals with best practices for identifying common acute medical complications of stimulant intoxication and long-term consequences associated with chronic stimulant use and how to apply evidence-based management strategies in acute emergencies and long-term care of patients with stimulant use disorders.

 

TARGET AUDIENCE

This activity is designed for physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and residents and fellows in Rhode Island specializing in primary care, family medicine, general medicine, pediatrics and emergency medicine. 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

After participating in this educational initiative, the learner should be better able to:

  1. Recognize the common acute medical complications of stimulant intoxication, including cardiovascular, neurological, and psychiatric presentations.
  2. Describe the long-term physiological and neuropsychiatric consequences associated with chronic stimulant use.
  3. Apply evidence-based management strategies for both acute emergencies and long-term care of patients with stimulant use disorders. 

METHOD OF PARTICIPATION AND HOW TO RECEIVE CME CREDIT
