Please join the Department of Emergency Medicine in welcoming Grand Rounds speaker Eugenia South, MD MS, Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. South’s research focuses on how neighborhood context impacts health and safety in urban environments. Her presentation will elaborate on her research focused on understanding the ways in which the physical attributes of where people live, work, and play influence chronic stress, cardiovascular and mental health, and violent crime.

  • State the role of neighborhood segregation on health
  • Identify gun violence as a deadly symptom of structural racism
  • Describe four place-based interventions to reduce gun violence
