Please join the Department of Emergency Medicine for an upcoming Grand Rounds entitled Is My Patient Dehydrated? Evaluation of Children and Adults with Acute Diarrhea presented by Adam Levine, MD, MPH, Professor of Emergency Medicine at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. The presentation will focus on the accurate and rapid assessment of dehydration status in patients with acute diarrhea. Dr. Levine is an international expert who has developed of clinical decision tools for the assessment of dehydration in children and adults.

After this session, the participants should be better able to:

  • Review of the global burden of diarrheal disease and the importance of accurate dehydration assessment in its management
  • Discuss the prior literature on the performance of current prediction models and algorithms for assessment of dehydration
  • Describe the process of developing and validating two new prediction models for the assessment of dehydration in adults and children
