10.20.21 Public Health Out Loud - Grand Rounds
Jointly Provided by
The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and The Rhode Island Department of Health
In Collaboration with Brown University AIDS Program
October 20 2021 Session
In addition to COVID-19 updates, this session will cover the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Latinx community and will focus particularly around misconceptions perpetuated via publicly-available statistical reporting. The Latinx community has been most impacted by COVID, not only in RI but nationwide; however, publicly-distributed statistics don’t often reflect the actual community impact. It becomes difficult to make evidence-based policy decisions without a fully representative data set, and misinformation can impact individual health decisions on an individual basis within the community. It is helpful to understand the dynamics of COVID epidemiology in the Latinx community in order to better treat and prevent COVID in this population.
