Session Overview
Target Audience
This session is designed for Rhode Island physicians (primary care and specialists), psychologists, social workers, residents, fellows, medical students, and all other allied health professionals.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be better able to:
- Identify at least three common pressures and mental-health red flags across youth, collegiate, and professional athletes and describe how they typically present in the clinic.
- Apply the four-pillar framework and create two micro-routines (e.g., one Focus, one Finish) that participants can teach during brief encounters in the clinic.
- Design a basic step-care pathway for their setting that includes a screening tool set (e.g., PHQ-9/GAD-7/ISI), clear referral criteria to counseling/psychiatry, and a confidentiality/communication plan with sports medicine and coaching staff
