Forward7/14/20: Facilitating Active Learning in all Kinds of Teaching
The facilitation of active learning on the part of our medical students and residents is the main function of all medical educators. The more learners are asked to recall, expand, prioritize, summarize, differentiate, and connect, the deeper their understanding will be. This workshop will review how to incorporate active learning into various kinds of instructional practice, and will provide concrete, easy to implement tips for educators.
This session is part of a "by-request" series of workshops on teaching and learning. Once restrictions on gatherings have been lifted, departments or other groups can request this workshop as an in-person session by filling out this form, or emailing Chelsea_Reyes@brown.edu.
Target Audience
All faculty and residents are welcome to attend this live webinar.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Recognize the importance of active learning
- Describe techniques to facilitate active learning that are appropriate to various kinds of teaching
- Apply techniques to facilitate active learning to their own teaching
