Gender is Developmental: An Approach to Gender Affirmative Care
This talk will improve understanding of human development in the areas of child and adolescent gender identity. It will provide tools that support an affirmative approach to working with and supporting gender diverse youth. This talk will be particularly useful for medical and mental health providers working with gender diverse young people, but is open to all.

Target Audience
This activity was designed for local and national physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, psychologists, physician assistants, social workers, and medical students in all specialties.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of the symposium, participants should be better able to:
- Describe a human developmental approach to working with gender-diverse children and adolescents.
- Offer a gender-affirming perspective in their approach to youth and their families so that they can make decisions based on best practices, rather than fear and misinformation.
