Session 2:  Systematically Identifying and Engaging Patients at Risk Part 1 

This 2nd session of the series will include an overivew of setting up systems to identify patients who are suicidal, incorporating and using standardized screening and assessment tools and engaging patients in safety planning and lethal means safety. 

This webinar series is jointly provided by the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and Washington County Zero Suicide Program. 
In collaboration with the Zero Suicide Institute.

Target Audience

This series is designed for physicians, psychologists, social workers, and nurses.

Learning Objectives

After participating in this session, the learner should be better able to: 

  1. Describe the Zero Suicide approach to identifying individuals with suicide risk via comprehensive screening and assessment.
  2. Demonstrate a basic understanding of the importance in a Zero Suicide approach of developing policies and protocols for safety planning, crisis support planning, and lethal means reduction in health and behavioral health care systems.

Dr. Ahmedani is a research scientist and licensed clinical social worker who has particular expertise in suicide prevention. He has led and participated in numerous federal and other funded studies on suicide prevention and has also conducted an evaluation of the award‐winning Perfect Depression Care/Zero Suicide program at Henry Ford Health System. Dr. Ahmedani has provided training and consultation on the Zero Suicide Model and Evidence‐Based Suicide Prevention Approaches in healthcare settings both nationally and internationally.
