Implementation Science Bootcamp February 2024
Sponsored by the Brown Research on Implementation and Dissemination to Guide Evidence Use (BRIDGE) Program and the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University
Dissemination and Implementation (D&I) Science is a growing research field that seeks to inform how evidence-based interventions can be successfully adopted, implemented, and maintained in health care delivery and community settings. Medical professionals are increasingly required to meet benchmarks and performance metrics for delivering evidence-based practices. Researchers are now required to demonstrate the public health impact of their study fundings.
D&I Science can empower clinicians and scientists to achieve both:
• Enhance the relevance and impact of research careers
• Interface closely with healthcare leaders and staff as partners, breaking down the research-practice divide in order to achieve the ultimate goal: to increase the public health impact of evidence-based innovation
• Integrate methodologies into clinical trial designs and speed the development of evidence-based interventions that have demonstrable public health impact
Through this 2-day Implementation Science Bootcamp, attendees will learn the skills and tools needed to increase the adoption of evidence-based practices, treatments, and interventions in clinical and community-based settings.
Tentative Snow Date: March 8-9, 2024
Target Audience
This activity is designed for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, psychologists, pharmacists, physical therapists, social workers, physical therapists, residents, fellows, medical students, and graduate students of all specialties in social science fields.
Learning Objectives
After participating in this activity, the learner should be better able to:
- Characterize the evidence to practice gap in a number of medical and health-related fields.
- Develop foundational knowledge of implementation science frameworks, measures, study designs and outcomes to be used when assessing the implementation of an evidence-based practice.
- Build skills in pre-implementation, implementation and sustainment phases required for moving evidence into practice.
- Demonstrate the linkage between implementation science and quality improvement and how both can be used to address critical health care gaps.
