Session Overview:

In the northeastern US perinatal substance use disorder is a common condition that affects families and communities
with great impact.  Through telementoring, ECHO creates access to high-quality education and networking in local
communities, and strengthens the local resources available to patients. Physicians can learn and collaborate with each
other to build a coherent model of care for families affected by substance use disorder in pregnancy and early
parenthood.

Target Audience

Physicians, psychologists, social workers, residents and fellows specializing in primary care, family medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, and psychiatry.

  • Discuss the prevalence and influence of trauma in SUD and birth
  • Identify key components of trauma-informed care for prenatal and birth care providers
  • Discuss novel therapy for PTSD for pregnant and parenting patients with SUD
