04.25.24 OWIMS Professional Development Series | Creating and Using Frameworks for Delegation

Providence, RI US
April 25, 2024
Moving into leadership roles requires a transition from doing all the work to becoming the person who makes sure the work gets done. Delegation is a difficult skill to learn for several reasons:
1) A substantial initial investment of time
2) Uncertainty that others will meet the standards we expect
3) A challenge with our own shift in defining ourselves and our work.
We will address each of these challenges and provide a framework and strategies to distribute work across your team. This offering is designed for hands-on practice with short didactic segments to provide context for each workshop activity, each followed by a debrief and time for Q&A

Target Audience

This session is open to all faculty, staff and trainees.

Learning Objectives

After participating in this event, learners should be better able to:
  • Identify work that can/should be delegated.
  • Prioritize work based on importance, risk, and experience required for successful completion.
  • Create a personalized delegation matrix to match people with tasks.
  • Engage in delegation conversations.
