Target Audience

Pediatricians, Family Practice Physicians, and Pediatric Provider

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, pediatric and adolescent providers should be able to:

  1. Recognize the epidemiology and trends of substance use in adolescents
  2. Describe the impact of substance use in particular nicotine products, marijuana and opioids on adolescent health and welfare.
  3. Explain the laws and best practices regarding incorporating confidential conversations and confidential documentation of adolescent substance abuse and the boundaries of confidentiality in medical care
  4. Apply best practices and techniques into their practice for incorporating screening
