Pediatric and Adolescent Sports Medicine Update

This course will provide current state of the art sports medicine practice guidelines to help ensure highest quality of care. Through presentations of various pediatric and adolescent sports medicine topics, course participants will gain increased comfort in initiating evaluation & treatment prior to referring to a specialist & appreciate the injury patterns that require urgent specialist referral.

Keynote Address titled, “The Mental-Social-Emotional Journey of the Adolescent Athlete” will be presented by Adam Naylor, EdD, MPC, Mental Performance Consultant, Northeastern University Athletics, Boston, MA.

Target Audience

Athletic trainers, nurse practitioners, physicians, physician assistants, physical therapists, and physical therapy assistants.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Differentiate among various types of sports injuries and sports-related conditions
  • Initiate workup and know the proper indications for higher level imaging techniques in diagnosis
  • Initiate appropriate non-operative treatment
  • Describe the indications for referral to a specialty provider

Conference Parking
Parking will be available in the parking garage connected to the Medical Building, located on the corner of Richmond and Elm Streets.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations/substitutions must be made in writing to the Brown CME Office at least two weeks prior to the conference, no later than April 15, 2022. A $25.00 administrative fee will be charged for all refunds (no refunds for “no shows”). There will be no additional charge for substitutions. This conference is subject to change or cancellation.

Brown CME reserves the right to change the delivery format, delay, or cancel a course due to any unforeseen circumstances. In the event that the program is canceled, your registration fee will be refunded. If the program is canceled or postponed, we will not be responsible for any travel costs or expenses, including cancellation/change penalties assessed.
