10.01.24 OWIMS Professional Development Series | Soar into 2025: Crafting Your Professional Roadmap

Providence, RI US
October 1, 2024
Overview

Numerous studies, including those published by the National Academy of Medicine and the American Medical Association, highlight the high rates of burnout among women physicians and scientists. Burnout is often exacerbated by a lack of strategic vision and the constant pressure to manage day-to-day tasks without a clear roadmap for long-term success. We also have literature to support the higher attrition rate for women physicians. Data from the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) shows that women in medicine are underrepresented in leadership positions, and career advancement often lags behind their male counterparts. This disparity while multifactorial is partly due to the lack of structured professional development that aligns daily activities with long-term career goals.
