9.28.23 OWIMS Book Club: The Exceptions: Nancy Hopkins, MIT, and the Fight for Women in Science
This event will take place live, in person at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, 3rd floor RIMI
Overview
As described in the New York Times review, “The Exceptions is an important read for
anyone who wants to better understand the dynamics of discrimination in any workplace.
It also helps underscore the importance of efforts to encourage more women in STEM
fields after years of unfair treatment by some of the country’s most respected institutions.”
Finally, Dr. Susan Gerbi, Past President of the American Society for Cell Biology, and a
contemporary of many scientists in the book, will lead a discussion about women’s careers
in science.
Target Audience
This session is open to all faculty, staff and trainees.
