This educational event will address the acute care of patients with sickle cell disease (SCD) by identifying some emergent presentations as well as highlighting some of the barriers to care patients with SCD may face. These barriers primarily include skepticism and bias which can lead to missed or undertreated devastating sequelae. Patients can also sometimes face challenges accessing, establishing, and maintaining care with physicians.

This course will present a distinguished panel that will provide state-of-the-art breast cancer updates from bench to bedside.

This short training, comprised of seven brief audio lessons, will teach clinicians how to be with and hold patients’ suffering without being consumed by it. Burnout is reaching epidemic levels for healthcare providers. Clinicians are taught to empathize with their patients, yet this can lead to empathy fatigue, and the development of habits that are self-protective against burnout, yet can be a Catch-22 with regard to connecting with patients and building a relationship that makes patients feel cared for.
