Office of Faculty Professional Development Courses
Faculty development is critical to improving one’s practice, ensuring the best teaching for learners, and building and disseminating new knowledge of educational, clinical, and career aspects of the iterative improvement
of the practice of medicine and the delivery of optimal health care.
Medical Education is a consistent part of practice and training throughout one’s career in medicine. The abilities to teach, assess, design, and evaluate curricula, incorporate considerations of diverse learning styles and aptitudes
create a safe learning environment, lead, and partner with interdisciplinary teams, communicate, reflect, and create and disseminate new knowledge are all required of medical practitioners while preserving practices
of resiliency and preventing burnout. Without attention to these areas, the workforce, and ultimately, patient care, is at risk.
Target Audience
All faculty and residents are welcome to attend these sessions.
Learning Objectives
The educational objectives include being better able to:
- Demonstrate clear and inclusive communication skills
- Incorporate divers teaching strategies that appel to a wide variety of learners needs
- Contribute to the creation of supportive and inclusive learning environments
- Participate in research and scholarship for broader dissemination to the community of medical educators
